Strip & Rejuvenate Before Recoating
This preparation-only kit removes compatible failed deck coatings and restores the exposed timber before a new oil or coating is applied. It is designed for previously coated decks covering approximately 45–90m².
- 1 × Viccon Wood Care Wood Finish Stripper – 15L
- 1 × Viccon Wood Care Wood Rejuvenator – 15L
This pack supplies the stripping and rejuvenating stages. The final oil, stain or protective coating is selected separately.
Choose this kit when an old compatible deck oil, stain or sealer is peeling, patchy or preventing an even maintenance coat.
It is not intended for timber that is already completely bare and only needs cleaning. It is also not suitable for epoxy, two-pack or other highly chemical-resistant coatings unless their manufacturer confirms compatibility.
This kit is sized for approximately 45–90m², but stripper coverage depends heavily on coating type, thickness, age, application method and site conditions.
Decks that have been maintained frequently often carry thicker coating build-up. A second application may be required, so test a small area before starting and allow for extra stripper where the first application does not fully remove the finish.
- Remove furniture, sweep the deck and protect nearby plants, painted surfaces and metal fittings.
- Apply Wood Finish Stripper according to the label. Work in manageable sections and keep the treated area wet during the required dwell time.
- Test whether the coating has softened. Reapply where required, then remove the failed finish using the recommended washing or pressure-cleaning method.
- Apply Wood Rejuvenator according to the label to neutralise and restore the exposed timber. Rinse thoroughly.
- Allow the deck to dry completely. Lightly sand raised grain or rough areas and remove all dust before coating.
Once the timber is completely bare, neutralised and dry, it can be finished with a compatible penetrating oil or deck coating.
Complete a test patch using the intended finish because remaining coating residue, timber species and porosity can affect colour and adhesion.
- Read both product labels and Safety Data Sheets before use
- Wear chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, protective clothing and suitable footwear
- Protect plants, painted surfaces, glass, metal fittings and surrounding areas
- Use suitable application equipment and manage runoff responsibly
- Keep children and pets away until the area is rinsed, dry and safe
Does this kit include the final deck coating?
No. It prepares the timber before the chosen finish is applied.
Will one stripper application always be enough?
No. Thick, aged or multiple coating layers may require a second application.
Can I apply a new coating immediately?
No. Rejuvenate and rinse the timber, then allow it to dry completely before sanding and coating.
SEALIX recommends testing the stripper on a small section before treating the full deck. This confirms the dwell time, coating response and whether a second application is likely.
Work in manageable sections and do not rush the rejuvenating stage. Proper neutralisation and drying are essential before applying the new finish.

Watch how Wood Finish Stripper is used as the first stage of restoring previously coated timber. Always follow the current product label and test a small area before treating the full deck.
