The Viccon Wood Deep Cleaner is step one in the Viccon Timber Restoration System. It’s made for removing penetrating oils, natural tannins, and organic build-up from timber, while restoring weathered grey fibres. It’s also perfect for new hardwood decks, pulling out tannins so you can seal straight away without leaving timber exposed for months.
⚠️ Important: This product is not for removing film-forming coatings (such as varnishes, paints, polyurethanes, or water-based/acrylic finishes that sit on top of the surface). If your deck has a peeling or flaking finish sitting on the surface, use Viccon Wood Finish Stripper instead.

To achieve the best results, always follow the correct application method. Viccon Wood Deep Cleaner is formulated for efficiency, but proper use ensures thorough cleaning, tannin removal, and surface preparation for coating.
Preparation
- Sweep or rinse off any surface debris, dirt, or loose materials.
- Mask and protect any adjacent painted, powder-coated, or aluminium surfaces.
- Ensure the timber surface is slightly wet before starting — never apply to dry surface.
- Wear appropriate safety gear: gloves, eye protection, and a respirator.
Application Steps
- Shake the container well to mix contents before use.
- Apply the product undiluted using a brush, roller, or pump-action garden sprayer.
- Evenly cover the entire surface, working in manageable sections.
- Allow the cleaner to react for 20–45 minutes depending on timber condition (20 minutes for new timber, up to 45 minutes for heavily weathered or oiled timber).
- Keep the surface consistently moist during this time — re-apply more cleaner or light water mist to prevent drying.
- For heavily soiled or tannin-rich surfaces, agitate lightly with a deck brush to enhance penetration.
- Rinse thoroughly with a pressure washer (recommended max 3000 PSI and) to remove all residue.
Post-Cleaning
- For enhanced results, follow up with Viccon Wood Rejuvenator to brighten and neutralise the surface before finishing.
- After cleaning, allow the timber to dry completely before applying any sealer or coating.
