The final appearance varies with timber species, existing colour, preparation, number of coats and lighting. Test the selected colour on an offcut or inconspicuous section before completing the project.

Suitable for preserving hardwood and softwood exterior timber, including Merbau, Spotted Gum and treated pine.

Confirm suitability before use over an unknown existing coating or on an unusual timber species.

Coverage and drying times are guides only. Porous, rough, weathered or highly absorbent timber may require more product. Cool, humid or poorly ventilated conditions extend drying.

1. Inspect the timber and identify any previous coating.
2. Remove dirt, grease, mould, surface contamination and loose or failing finishes.
3. Strip or sand incompatible existing coatings where required.
4. Prepare new or weathered timber using the appropriate Haymes Woodcare preparation system.
5. Allow the surface to dry fully before coating.
6. Stir thoroughly before and during application; do not shake.
7. Complete a test patch to confirm adhesion, colour and appearance.

Good preparation is essential. If the existing finish is unknown, ask Sealix for system advice before coating.

1. Check the forecast and avoid rain, extreme heat, direct hot sun or application to hot timber.
2. Stir the product thoroughly before and during use.
3. Apply evenly with a quality brush or decking applicator pad, working with the grain and maintaining a wet edge.
4. Avoid heavy application, pooling and lap marks.
5. Allow at least the specified recoat period and only recoat when the surface is ready.
6. Apply the number of coats stated on the current label; Haymes commonly recommends calculating for 2–3 coats according to UV exposure and traffic.
7. Keep foot traffic and furniture off the coating until it has cured sufficiently.

Inspect exposed and high-traffic areas regularly. Maintenance timing depends on orientation, UV exposure, weather, traffic, timber species and colour.

1. Clean the surface and remove contamination.
2. Repair worn or damaged areas and confirm the remaining coating is sound.
3. Use the same colour where possible for the most consistent recoat result.
4. Apply a maintenance coat before widespread coating failure occurs.

Is Dexpress a decking oil?
It is a water-based deck and timber stain that forms a thin protective film, rather than behaving like a conventional penetrating oil.

Will it hide the timber grain?
No. The semi-transparent low-sheen finish is intended to add colour and protection while retaining the visible grain.

How many coats will I need?
Allow for 2–3 coats depending on the timber, exposure and traffic, and follow the current label for the final system.

Which colour should I choose?
Choose from Natural, Light Oak, Merbau, English Tea or New Teak. Because timber affects the result, always test first.

Can I apply it over an old coating?
Only after confirming compatibility and adhesion. Loose, weathered or incompatible finishes must be removed and the timber prepared correctly.
