Strip Away Old Coatings — Reset Your Deck for a Fresh Sealer
The Strip & Rejuvenate Timber Deck Kit is designed for decks that have been previously coated with oils, stains, or film-forming sealers and now look patchy, peeling, or worn.
For coated timber decks, this kit takes the guesswork out of restoration. It strips away failed water-based finishes, solvent-based stains, and penetrating oils, giving the timber a clean slate. Once stripped, the included Rejuvenator restores the natural timber colour, balances the surface, and neutralises residue, leaving the deck ready for a fresh sealer that bonds properly and lasts.
This kit goes beyond what basic cleaners can do. It tackles stubborn old coatings sitting on the timber surface while also penetrating the fibres to revive and stabilise the wood underneath. The result is a properly prepared surface that ensures your new sealer won’t just sit on top but will lock in for long-term protection.
This kit is ideal for:
- Decks with peeling, patchy, or failed coatings
- Timber sealed with water-based, solvent-based, or penetrating oils that now need removal
- Older decks needing a full reset before resealing
Supplied with a step-by-step guide, the kit gives both tradies and DIYers confidence to reset their deck the right way — ensuring professional results and long-lasting performance under tough Australian conditions.
The Strip & Rejuvenate Timber Deck Kit is made for decks that have been previously coated with oils, stains, or film-forming sealers and are now peeling, patchy, or worn. Standard cleaners can’t remove old coatings properly — this kit strips away failed finishes, restores the timber fibres, and neutralises the surface so your new sealer bonds and lasts.
- Removes multiple layers of old finishes in a single process
- Works on oil-, water-, and solvent-based coatings
- Safe for all exterior hardwoods and softwoods
- Prepares timber for a long-lasting reseal
- Includes a step-by-step guide for DIY or trade use
Clear the deck of furniture, dust, and debris. Ensure timber is dry.
Wear gloves, mask, and safety glasses.
Shake the stripper well and apply undiluted with a pump sprayer, brush, or roller.
Keep the surface consistently wet for 45–60 minutes. Mist lightly with water if drying.
Test coating softness; reapply stripper to stubborn areas.
Pressure wash with a petrol-powered washer (max 3000 PSI, min 11 L/min) using a flat or turbo nozzle. Always work with the grain.
Rinse walls, plants, and surrounding areas immediately if splashed.
Once coatings are removed, apply Viccon Wood Rejuvenator. Allow 15–20 minutes dwell time, then rinse thoroughly.
