The Prime Aqua Primer is a professional-grade water-based acrylic primer formulated with advanced polymers to penetrate, consolidate, and bind masonry surfaces. Designed and blended in Australia, it delivers strong surface adhesion and prepares concrete for topcoat sealing with Prime Aqua Top Coat.

  • Water-based acrylic primer – non-hazardous, very low odour
  • Consolidates and binds the surface for maximum adhesion
  • Penetrating power similar to xylene-based sealers
  • Can be applied to damp or moist masonry surfaces
  • Improves early surface strength & reduces dusting
  • Efflorescence and alkali resistant
  • Accelerated dry time — ready for Top Coat in as little as 30 minutes
  • Coverage: approx. 150–180 m² per 20L drum

The Prime Aqua Primer is the essential first coat in the Aqua System, working hand-in-hand with Prime Aqua Top Coat. Its penetrating formula soaks into porous concrete and masonry, consolidating the surface and creating a strong bond for long-lasting sealer adhesion.

Unlike solvent-based sealers, Aqua Primer is safe, eco-friendly, and moisture tolerant — meaning it can be applied to damp surfaces without risk of whitening or adhesion failure. Its accelerated dry speed allows contractors to move quickly, with topcoat application possible in as little as 30 minutes.

By sealing and stabilising early, Aqua Primer prevents concrete dusting, resists efflorescence, and enhances the durability of the final sealer coat.

  • Penetrates and binds for superior adhesion
  • Essential base coat for Prime Aqua Top Coat
  • Can be applied to damp surfaces where xylene sealers cannot
  • Low odour, non-hazardous — safe for indoor use
  • Improves early surface strength and prevents dusting
  • Designed for Australian conditions

  1. Surface Preparation
    • For new concrete, allow at least 7 days curing.
    • Pressure clean thoroughly (2000+ PSI).
    • Acid etch with 9:1 water to HCl, rinse well.
    • Remove excess/pooling water with a leaf blower — surface can remain damp.
  2. Application
    • Stir or shake container vigorously.
    • Apply evenly with spray unit, roller, or broom — avoid pooling.
    • Allow minimum 30 minutes drying before applying Prime Aqua Top Coat (longer in cooler/humid conditions).
  3. Curing
    • Full curing: approx. 7 days, depending on ambient conditions.

Clean-Up: Wash equipment thoroughly in hot water (cold water acceptable if needed).

As the essential base coat for Prime Aqua Top Coat

Indoor or enclosed projects requiring low odour application

Damp or moisture-prone surfaces where solvent sealers fail

Preventing dusting on new concrete

Decorative concrete requiring safe, long-lasting primer

  • Always remove pooling water before application
  • Use a leaf blower for best surface prep after rinsing
  • Apply thin, even coats — avoid over-application
  • Don’t skip the Primer — it ensures adhesion and durability of the Top Coat
  • Apply in conditions above 8–10°C for optimal performance

Is this product water-based or solvent-based?

It is a water-based acrylic primer, low odour and safe for indoor use.

Do I need to use Aqua Primer before Top Coat?

Yes — Aqua Primer is essential for adhesion and surface consolidation.

Can it be applied to damp surfaces?

Yes — unlike solvent-based products, Aqua Primer can be applied to moist masonry.

How much coverage does 20L provide?

Approx. 150–180m², depending on porosity.

How soon can I apply Top Coat?

In as little as 30 minutes, subject to conditions.

Will it stop concrete dusting?

Yes — it consolidates the surface and prevents dusting when used alone or under Aqua Top Coat.
